Sivas Hoard

The Sivas Hoard consists of 20 coins whose origin was unknown. They arrived at the Sivas Archaeological Museum on June 11, 2009.
The Sivas Hoard comprises solidus and tremisis coins minted during the reigns of three emperors who followed each other chronologically without interruption: Phocas (602-610), Heraclius (610-641), and Constans II (641-668). The coins date between 602 and 668 AD, a period of catastrophic instability for Byzantium. The Sivas Hoard includes variations of the solidus that reflect subtle changes in weight and purity.

Phocas 607-610 (602-610) Weight 4.51 g.

Heraclius 610 to 641. 4.47 g.

Constans II (641-668) 4.4 g.
